Yeah, comfort, companionship... something to ease the feeling of loneliness.
Though I was aiming for some kind of suffocating comfort with the lizard-animal. The animal protects, but at the same time it protects too much, the lullaby it sings lulls the boy into a sleep from which he cannot wake up.

the girl and the ludicrous animal offer the same thing: friendship.
we don't like to be alone in this world, and there are persons that are 'experts' to offer a delicate support.
